Take time to Remember this Memorial Day all those that have died while serving our county.  A special thank you to the families of those lost, your sacrifice does not need to go unnoticed.

Memorial Day TributeObservance-Memorial Day

Memorial Day Observance (http://www.usmemorialday.org): In traditional observance, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.

National Moment of Remembrance

Memorandum for the Heads of Exec Depts and Agencies
Subject: White House Program for the National Moment of Remembrance on 3 May 2000.

Memorial Day TributeAccording to former President William J. Clinton, “As Memorial Day approaches, it is time to pause and consider the true meaning of this holiday.  Memorial Day represents a national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who died while defending our Nation and its values.  While we should honor these heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to securing our Nation’s freedom, we should honor them especially on Memorial Day.”

The letter goes on to state, “Accordingly, I hereby direct all executive departments and agencies, in consultation with the White House Program for the National Moment of Remembrance (Program), to promote a “National Moment of Remembrance” to occur at 3 p.m. (local time) on each Memorial Day.”
